Oahe Dam
Set along the Missouri River just north of Pierre, this expansive man-made dam created Lake Oahe - one of the largest man-made lakes in the United States. Much of the north-central United States' electricity is provided by the power plant located at the Oahe Dam. Tours of the power plant are available from Memorial Day through Labor Day and the site offers excellent birding opportunities during late fall and winter.
