The Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail follows the route of the early explorers Lewis and Clark and their Corps of Discovery, more than two centuries ago. Crossing 11 states, from the plains of the Midwest to the Pacific Ocean, the Pierre section of the trail follows the Missouri River, passing interpretive signs and viewpoints along the way.
